I do wonder whether 'assisted suicide' is the right term for this as it plays into the assumption of the complete autonomy of the individual and removes third party involvement - doctors, family, friends, suppliers of the killing agent and many more who will be implicated in the death of the person in question. I suspected that something which includes the notion of 'accessory' and the reality that this is about killing
Thanks for reading Guy. The euthanasists prefer "assisted dying", because it takes it away from suicide (which is legal of course) and the assistance of it (which remains illegal). Elective death? That would just be two words for "suicide".
